    The Lounge Advent Calendar 2015

Post by Nina on 1/12/2015, 11:05

I can't promise I will remember to do every day (but I'll try!!) or be as good as Kitty was at it... but here goes.

I'll post something each day and maybe we can share what we got in our calendars too?

If anyone wants to contribute pictures, please let me know! smile

    Great idea!

I miss the 'old fashioned' Advent Calendars that we used to get as kids.
No chocolate but just a picture of a robin, snowman, Christmas pudding, cracker etc and then.... the greatest excitement was the Double Doors that opened to show the Nativity scene.
    It was so exciting then!!

I always get the girls a chocolate one. This year it was Minions. I also got Sam a Star Wars one! I think he thinks I am mad, but he has been included in the tradition now!

No one gets me one, so I won't be able to tell you what I got in mine!! violin

Poggy, I've got fond memories of a more traditional time when it comes to advent calendars too!

I remember having a Mars calendar (or similar) when I was little and being very annoyed because all of the windows had pictures of toys in (think digital watch, roller skates, toy car, etc.) and I thought advent calendars should only have 'festive' pictures in (think candle, star, snowflake, donkey, robin, etc.).

We've got Fair Trade calendars this year and they've got nativity-related imagery on the front, so I am hopeful that means they will have some nice traditional pictures inside.

I am bad though, as I do like a calendar with chocolate AND a picture in, rather than just the picture ones. Embarassed

I've got a Milkybar advent calendar this year. Today's chocolate was some sort of amorphous blob that I THINK was meant to be a snowman. Happy days!

I splashed out on a hotel chocolat one this year Embarassed nobody buys me one so I have to treat myself.

Fred has a pets at home doggy one. Then I felt bad for GC so he has a dairy milk one. This morning I got a snow man, and fred had a tree. GC hasn't opened his yet.

We have the 'traditional' one at school plus a pocket one with treats in, although there's more than 24 people in the class so we have to do some doubles.

I usually get a cadburys one every year from my parents even though I'm a growed up. lol. My mum has got really into sewing and crafting this year though and she made me the most amazing tweed and felt christmas tree filled with lollies (I put a picture on facebook). Its incredible, but I have to admit slight shame in being a tiny bit disappointed about no chocolates this year haha.

I am feeling very festive now, having spent a fair amount of time Googling festive images.

I may or may not have also created a Lounge Advent Calendar spreadsheet. whistle Embarassed

We used to re-use the same paper advent calendar every year in our house AND we shared it between the 3 of us taking it in turns to open the doors. I'm sure I hardly ever got to do the double doors on the 24th - get your tiny violins out gerrin

I have a boring Mars one this year, can't remember what my chocolate blob was today! I buy them for my team at work (only 4 including me) so just do cheap ones.

Oooh! I have just remembered that my friend bought me a bar of chocolate one which I haven't yet eatern. Hurrah! *brief pause to eat chocolate* That one had a santa hat on it.

Mine was a donkey today. The advent calendar has a little book with it and you have to read a page for each door, and the story ties in with what is behind each door. smile

Mine was a Lindt chocolate bunny gerrin

My mum buys me and A one each year.

I remember having the pictures only ones when I was wee and thinking they were so exciting! Then I got upgraded to a picture one in the morning and a chocolate one for after school as I can't eat chocolate too early in the morning, but all my friends had chocolate ones and I previously hadn't known that was a thing.
