I'm feeling the need for some fresh musical inspiration at the moment so hit me with your rhythm sticks and tell me what you're listening to and enjoying at the moment?

Yeah, I have quite eclectic tastes. I have Kate Bush, Biffy Clyro, LCD Soundsystem & Johnny Cash on my iPod for example.

So you name something or send me the link and I can have a listen and see. Thanks smile

Lettuce - I am not sure that the quiet and delicate Bomb is ready for any Nuuuuummmaaaannnn....so please don't send her any links to that !! lol

I think you might like Kodaline, Bomb.
I have mentioned them on here before. They are an Irish band and there stuff is very easy to listen to.

Thanks for the links, Poggy. My being quiet and delicate is a myth y'know. I think I could cope with Gary Numan  lol . I've got lots of The Stranglers and The Sex Pistols on my iPod too. 70s punk is so good.

    great

I have been to see the Stranglers, but I draw the line at The Sex Pistols!!

OK - here you go - try these...

    Dead Son Rising

In fact, I am struggling to find a lot of my faves, so you could just try listening to this album here...

Disclaimer - make sure you are in the right mood my lovely - it is quite dark and heavy.
Not at all like the Kodaline I suggested above and not at all like the Gary Numan of the 80's!

Lettuce - you might want to give this a listen too.
    I love it! rawk

Cheers both. The Gary Numan stuff you linked to, Pogs, reminds me of a softer Sisters of Mercy. I loved them when I was about 15.

    Keep the suggestions coming all...

    Excellent!
It came as a real surprise when I heard his stuff after expecting the rather tame, electronic 80's stuff!

I mostly just have Xfm on the radio, even though I'm cross now they've changed it to be all 'music for manly men men grrr not for stupid girls who only like little mix'. (In fairness I do also like little mix! And lots of cheery pop stuff, Jason Derulo gets a lot of airplay in my little car too).

I like the Black Keys https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wUYxKE3cd7M

    Catfish and the Bottlemen https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Va75GaPv5jY

Not to everyone's tastes I know but I love Vampire Weekend.

I like Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - was a big Oasis fan in the day but I far prefer this stuff now.

Laura Mvula - different to all the above but really good, love her.

I also absolutely love Caro Emerald, fabulous.

Also I only listened because I fancy him on Lewis but Lawrence Fox has gone into music now and there's some really good stuff! https://soundcloud.com/laurencefoxmusic

    Right now I am loving

Eels - never really listen to them before but have an Apple Music playlist "Into to the Eels@ which is excellent

    Queens of the Stone Age
    Old Foo Fighters
    Eagles of Death Metal
    Them Crooked Vultures
So basically anything with Dave Grohl or Josh Homme! Also have a playlist of quite a variety of artists where Dave Grohl played drums which is pretty cool, includes some stuff by Garbage, Prodigy and Puff Daddy, when he was still called Puff Daddy!

    The first Alannis Morisette album

And for when I fancy a bit of electronica/pop I'm obsessed with
    Sia
    Grimes
    Chvrches

I'm having a total midlife old person music crisis just now so been streaming non stop 70's 80's alternative stuff instead of listening to all the 'rubbish' that seems to be on the radio right now. I know that's purely me being old though

I'd been listening to Eagles of Death Metal and then the terrible events in Paris happened and now there's a campaign to get them to number 1. They are worth a listen, and aren't as loud and scary as the name suggests.

As a massive 'Duranie' back in the day, I am keen to hear their take on Save a Prayer!
